我的研究興趣在於用理論或數值的方法來探討分子團簇或溶液中的分子結構及反應動力學。大部分的化學反應都是在溶液中發生的。溶劑對化學反應的影響有兩方面:一是溶劑在反應物周圍排列的情形,將改變反應物間的作用力大小,進而影響反應途徑及速率,此乃主要為熱力學方面的影響;另一方面, 溶劑與反應物間的碰撞將促使能量的轉移,而使反應發生 及穩定生成物,此為動力學方面的影響。 我的研究範圍包括了上述溶劑對反應熱力學及動力學的影響之探討。例如溶質與溶劑間,不規則碰撞對反應速率的影響;在低度空間的反應時,由於反應物無法充分混合,而使反應速率減慢的特異現象;溶劑對分子的電子能階的改變情形,及隨之而產生的電子轉移及能量轉移發生之過程;溶質於溶劑分子團的性質,以瞭解分子性質如何由氣態過渡至溶液態;溶劑在蛋白質附近的排列情形,及其所產生之力場,此研究將有助於瞭解蛋白質活化中心的運作。 所採用的方法,包括用數學分析及電腦數值模擬。因為在日常生活中或在實驗室裏所觀察到的或量到的量,常是眾多分子所產生的集體綜合效應。反應真正如何進行,往往不得而知。因此,我們將結合量子力學及統計力學的理論,直接作微觀的及分子層面的探討,以揭開化學反應之神祕面紗。 |
